| During the winter, from
mid-October to end of March,
we offer sessions that are a combination of
skills development and games, along with
physical fitness training and theory (Laws of
the Game). Indoor sessions are longer than the summer
ones because children have more energy in the
winter. The duration of the indoor programs are
also much longer than the summer and the longest
in the region. All sessions for younger kids are held in gyms
across Milton's schools, while older youth will
participate in leagues. In 2009/10, we are
submitting 2 teams to play in the Hershey Centre
indoor leagues on artificial turf, in addition
to their skills development.
Indoor soccer is quite different from outdoor
soccer, but it provides players with more
touches of the ball than outdoors. They also
become really proficient at handling and
controlling the ball, gain confidence and stay
physically ready for the outdoor season. Our
theory portion is well-received by all and a
great opportunity to learn the Laws of the Game.
Typically, we receive less gym space than we
request from the Town of Milton (this is
a good topic to discuss with your school board
trustee and your ward representative). This
means that we will need to place a cap on our
programs.
