| During the winter, from
mid-October to March break,
we offer sessions that are a combination of
skills development and games, along with
physical fitness training and theory (Laws of
the Game). Indoor sessions are longer than the summer
ones because children have more energy in the
winter. The duration of the indoor programs are
also much longer than the summer and the longest
in the region. All sessions are held in gyms
across Milton's schools. Typically, we arrange
for an extra game day during the holidays at one
of the nearby indoor-artificial turf facilities,
followed by a group dinner for the players.
Indoor soccer is quite different from outdoor
soccer, but it provides players with more
touches of the ball than outdoors. They also
become really proficient at handling and
controlling the ball, gain confidence and stay
physically ready for the outdoor season. Our
theory portion is well-received by all and a
great opportunity to learn the Laws of the Game.
Our indoor programs for 2008 are set,
although we are still awaiting exact pricing and
dates from the Town. This season, we have received less gym space than we
requested from the Town of Milton (this
is a good topic to discuss with your school
board trustee and your ward representative).
This means that we will need to place a cap
(again) on our programs.
